The progress of Chelsea's bid to displace Manchester United as the English club with the biggest international support is one of the issues that will be gauged in the biggest-ever survey of football fans across the globe.
The English Premier League (EPL)'s main sponsors, Barclays, are hoping to get 50,000 fans in over 100 countries to take part in the survey, which will aim to establish the best-supported team and favourite players in different markets, as well as how much they spend on merchandise.
Interested EPL enthusiasts can take part in the survey by clicking on http://survey.premierleague.com/ and stand a chance of winning a trip to England to watch a match live. Fernando Torres, one of the stars tipped to emerge as the favourite player among international fans, helped to launch the survey. "I have been playing in England for two years and am not surprised that the Barclays Premier League's popularity has grown so much around the world," the Liverpool striker said.
