Strict security measures were taken before the Parliament's in-camera session in the capital on Wednesday. Bomb disposal squads and contingents of armed forces were put on high alert to meet any untoward situation, while military helicopters were on aerial surveillance. Prior to briefing, all workers of Senate and National Assembly were sent on leave.
Traffic was not allowed on the Ataturk Avenue and a special bus service plied from Secretariat Chowk to facilitate the commuters, besides security devices were installed at all entry points and in the red zone to identify any explosive-laden vehicle parked anywhere in the area.
No public transport is allowed to enter the red zone, which included Constitution Avenue, Jinnah Avenue, Attaturk Avenue, while entry in diplomatic enclave was completely restricted. The Secretariat employees were advised to use Margalla Road only, which created a lot of difficulties for them to reach their offices in time.
