Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Exports, Karachi has asked the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to immediately provide IT equipment for speedy processing of around 9,000 duty drawback claims filed by the exporters on monthly basis.
Sources told Business Recorder on Wednesday that the MCC, Exports Karachi has informed the board about the current status of processing of duty drawback claims under an electronic system. According to MCC, Exports Karachi data, nearly 9,000 duty drawback claims were filed by the exporters per month. To expedite clearance of claims, adequate IT equipment is needed to facilitate the exporters.
Presently, 9,000 claims are being processed through computer system and updated machines would further speed up the processing of such claims. It would also ensure clearance of pending claims, if any.
The MCC, Exports Karachi has also switched over from manual filing of goods declarations (GDs) to electronic system which resulted in speedy processing of export GDs. Other electronic processes have also been implemented at the level of collectorate to ensure electronic processing of these systems. It is worth mentioning that the FBR and its technical arm, ie Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) have introduced a number of electronic processes including e-filing of returns to ensure paperless environment for the business community.
