The University of occupied Kashmir (KU) has decided to extend its research and study facility to the students of Azad Jammu and Kashmir University, Muzaffarabad, with major thrust on studying seismic changes taking place in both the regions. The University of Kashmir is likely to set up a separate institute to study phenomenon of seismic changes in the valley, KMS reported.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Reyaz Punjabi said that the proposal to set up this institute has already been sent to the government of India for approval and once they Okayed, the AJK University would be formally approached to extend the facility.
He said that the expertise and research facility should be extended to the other side as part of the KU's educational collaborations in research. "Apart from easing roads and promoting trade, I believe the education sector is an important one in which co-operation should be made between the two regions," Professor Punjabi said.
