Plan formulated for off-season crops

Punjab government has formulated a plan costing Rs 550 million for producing off-season crops for ensuring availability of vegetable round the year in Punjab. Official sources told Business Recorder here on Sunday that under the programme "Tunnel Technology" would be introduced for the production of several off-season crops and ensure the availability of vegetables the whole year in the province.
Under the government was also spending Rs1.21 billion on undertaking research on agriculture aimed at producing new verities of crops especially fruits and vegetables. Besides, the government would extend the facility of subsidy to the farmers on agriculture and the government has set aside Rs560 million for the purpose. The work on the programme would be carried out shortly, sources added.
