The three-day International conference on 'Reproductive Health and ART' will be held from October 24 to 26 at a local hotel. Unfolding the detail of this mega event on Sunday, the Chairman, Organising Committee, renowned gynaecologist, Prof. Dr Saqib Siddiq said that it will promote interaction between the local and foreign gynaecologists.
About the objectives of the moot, he said that it would mainly focus on health issues confronting women's world-wide. He said that maternal morality rate (death of mother during childbirth) in Pakistan is very high and even more than 300 women die out of a total of one lac unfortunately the highest in the world, he observed.
Dr Saqib also said that contraception and family planning is the need of the hour and techniques to reduce the cost of IVF (test tube baby) treatment are also on the agenda of the moot.
Further, the expert said that a large number of doctors from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Australia, UK, USA, UAE and Iran will participate in the conference and read their research papers based on their practical experiences in reproductive health and ART specialisation while Punjab Chief Minister would inaugurate the conference.
He said that during the conference, we also plan to conduct a cricket match between Doctors XI and Stars XI. Doctors team will include local and foreign delegates.
In stars XI, we will have both cricket and show biz stars from Pakistan and India. The match will take place under floodlights in Qadafi Stadium on October 25. The Secretary, Organising Committee, Dr Haroon Latif Khan was also present on the occasion.
