In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Mohammad Yasin Malik and his six associates have been ordered to appear in person in a special court in Jammu on October 25.
A local daily 'Rising Kashmir' quoted a JKLF spokesman saying that the Indian Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed a petition in the court to cancel the bail of Mohammad Yasin Malik, Javed Ahmed Mir, Showkat Ahmed Bakhsi, Muhammad Iqbal Gandroo, Manzoor Ahmed Sofi, Javaid Ahmed Zargar on the pretext of not appearing in the Jammu court, KMS reported.
The statement of the spokesman said that the JKLF Chairman and other leaders could not appear in the Jammu court on July 12, August 1 and September 1, this year because of the agitation in Jammu over the Amarnath land row by the Hindu communal groups.
"The Sangarsh Committee, which spearheaded agitation in Jammu, and other extremist Hindu groups had threatened to attack Malik and others incase they arrived in Jammu. Due to this threat and the continued agitation in Jammu, the party leaders could not appear in the court," the statement said. It added that the counsel of JKLF leaders pleaded before court that the leaders be spared from appearing in person in the court. However, the court directed the leaders to appear in person before the court on October 25 in Jammu.
