Minister for promotion of traditional sports

Punjab Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Dr Tanvir-ul-Islam has said that traditional games of Punjab are the part of our cultural heritage and government would take all measures to promote sports activities in Punjab.
He expressed these views while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of Chief Minister Punjab Inter District Kabbadi Championship at Punjab Stadium. Secretary Sports Punjab Syed Munawar Abbas, Chairperson CM Task Force for Sports Mrs.
Niva Usman, MD Punjab Sports Board Khawar Shah, Vice President Pakistan Kabbadi Association Ali Muhammad Khawaja and a large number of Kabbadi lovers were also present on this occasion. The District Toba Tek Singh Kabbadi Team won the final of the Kabbadi Championship by defeating Kasur team while the team of district Sahiwal held the third position.
Dr Tanvir-ul-Islam gave cash award worth Rs 40,000 and trophy to the winner team while Rs 30,000 along with cup to runner up whereas Rs 20,000 & a cup awarded to the 3rd position holder. Minister also distributed individual prizes of Rs 10,000 each to the best "Sahi", best "Japhi" and best player of the championship.
The Minister said that no attention was paid to the promotion of games by the previous government but coalition government of Punjab has taken solid measures for the promotion and patronising the sports activities in the province.
