Director General Health, Punjab Dr Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry on Monday said that 16 million children up to the age of five years would be vaccinated against polio in the province. He said this while inaugurating the three-day, anti-polio campaign here at Children's hospital by administering polio drops to a child.
The official said that 38,000 fixed and mobile teams have been constituted by Punjab health department to visit door-to-door for the vaccination of children during this drive scheduled to continue till October 16.
He said that the health officials as well as educational institutions and local bodies were being involved to administer polio drops to the children, adding that district Nazims and District Co-ordination Officers (DCOs) were supervising the drive. DG health appealed to the parents to vaccinate their children against this crippling disease and hence help the authorities prevent its incidence in the province.
