15 Oct, 2008

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz on Monday said that it will extend unconditional support to the government to root out the menace of terrorism and extremism from the country. At the same time, the party demanded of the government to evolve a new policy by taking all the political parties onboard.
At a meeting chaired by party chief Nawaz Sharif at Punjab House following the in-camera briefing by Information Minister Sherry Rehman on security issue, Nawaz said his does not believe in political point scoring on the sensitive issues and would play its effective role to curb militancy.
The meeting was attended by senior party leaders including Raja Zafarul Haq, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Ahsan Iqbal, Ishaq Dar and others. However, the PML-N leadership expressed its dissatisfaction over the in-camera briefing.
Nawaz said that it was the right time to involve all the stakeholders for formulating an effective policy against the wave of terrorism and extremism instead of adopting the war on terror policy of the previous regime. "We are ready to extend our unconditional support to the government if it is ready to evolve a new strategy against war on terror."
