Senator Baber Awan has regretted objections being raised by the PML-N leader, Mian Nawaz Sharif, despite the fact that the joint session of the parliament for discussing the country's security situation was convened on his demand. Talking to VOA, he said it was better to keep in-camera briefing secret instead of leaking any thing about the briefing to the media.
Baber said that the government was committed to adopting a multi-pronged and effective strategy to root out terrorism and extremism from the country. Viewing the current situation in the country, the in-camera session has been held in time and government has gone an extra mile in inviting across the board leaders to attend the session, he maintained. Babar Awan said joint session would help the legislators to assume and play their due role to formulate national policies and subject them to parliamentary scrutiny and accountability.
