No peace without restoring deposed Chief Justice: Imran

15 Oct, 2008

Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has warned that without the restoration of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, the country would continue to face terrorism, lawlessness and other problems. He was addressing the party workers and people at the inauguration of a Roti Plant, which was set up by the PTI here on Tuesday.
Imran Khan also said the present government has no policies of its own, in fact it has adopted the policies of General (Retd) Pervez Musahrraf. He expressed disappoint over the fact that rulers have failed to provide bread and other bare essentials to the masses who were running from pillar to post in search of food and justice. "President Asf Ali Zardari should pay his attention to solve basic problems of people, like 'roti, kapra aur makan', instead of indulging in foreign tours," he added.
He said his party has launched a project of providing cheap roti to the masses in Lahore, which would expand to other cities as well very soon. He said the PPP government has failed to ensure peace and security in the country, and was very critical of the killings in the tribal areas, due to bombing and suicide attacks.
He condemned the in-camera briefing of the Parliament on security situation and said that the masses should also been taken in to confidence on this vital issue. He said the PPP and PML-N received the mandate for restoration of the judiciary and Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, but they have violated that mandate for personal interests.
Other leaders including Ahsan Rasheed and Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed also spoke on the occasion. Dr Shahid Siddiq, Rana Naeem Shahzad, Tariq Javed Butt, Ahmad Nasir, Amin Zaki, Naveed Ahmad, Ishtiaq Malik, Rashed Mahmood, Rana Akhtar, Rafiq Nisar and Moazzam Ali were also present on the occasion.
