Federal Minister Qamaruz Zaman Kaira has ordered an enquiry into the missing 2,500 cards of the Benazir income support scheme from the packet of a local MNA. The MNA Jamshed Dasti told media persons here on Tuesday that his packet of the income support cards received from the Post Office contained only 4,500 cards.
While the remaining 2,500 cards were missing, so he reported the matter to the incharge minister who ordered a probe into the incident. The PPP parliamentarian said that a special federal government team visited the Post Office and recorded the statements of the Post Office officials.
The Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Income Support Program will help some three million families facing near-starvation with monthly financial assistance of Rs 1000. This huge national program which aims at saving extremely poor families from starvation, has been acclaimed at home and abroad, he added.
