Call for improving social status of industrial workforce

Speakers at a seminar held in connection with world mental health day celebrations have called for growth of national industry and economic uplift of the nation. The seminar was held at Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital Multan Road, Lahore.
The Punjab Employees Social Security Institution Commissioner Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry emphasised the need to work toward improving the physical, mental and social status of our industrial workforce, as it is very important for the growth of our industry and economic uplift of our nation. "We often ignore the preventive aspect of the mental illness in industrial workers", he said.
He further said that doctors could play a vital role in educating the workers about mental illness. The seminar provided an excellent opportunity for dissemination of information and helped them to up-to-date their knowledge. This also helped the doctors to provide better mental healthcare to the patients.
Dr Muhammad Ashraf Nizami, Chief Executive, Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital stressed the need for devising new methods and techniques to cure mental illness and psychiatric problems which are on the rise in our society particularly in the industrial workers. The seminar was also addressed by Professor Muhammad Riaz Bhatti, Professor Haroon Rashid, Dr Saeed Ilahi MPA, Dr Kausar Sohail and Dr Nisar Baloch.
