The Minister for Rural Development, Zubair Ahmed has directed to increase four stalls in the city ordered officers to encourage chakki owners to ensure flour availability in all Mohallas and UCs. He also ordered exemplary punishment for the violators of his directives. The minister issued these directives in a meeting held to review the flour situation in Hyderabad.
Local leaders of PPP, Qazi Pasha and Sagheer Qureshi were of the view that the market mafia was more organised than the administration concerned and the people are not being benefited from the huge amount of subsidy being spent by the government.
They said that this mafia was so organised and strong that they were creating artificial shortage of daily commodities including flour, fertiliser, sugar, milk and even creating unrest among the masses through different kinds of rumours. Ali Ahmed Sehto also expressed his dissatisfaction over the rate list observed that it was being prepared in closed doors in the interest of the traders but not the masses.
Fayaz Shah said that all stakeholders should be taken on board for keeping prices of edible items under control and strict action must be taken against the profiteers. Jabbar Khan said that the concerned department should share with the masses the information of wheat quota given to flourmills and chakki owners along with the government fixed rates of kitchen items.
