Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Central Finance Secretary Muhammad Pervez Malik has said that the federal government has failed to overcome energy crisis and warned that if steps are not taken immediately to improve the situation, economy of the country would suffer immensely.
Speaking at a meeting here on Wednesday, he said increase in power tariff and diesel price is destructive for both industrial and agri sectors. He regretted that the Federal government has taken no initiative for construction of any new dam or evolving any strategy to bridge increasing gap between demand and availability of electricity.
"The recent increase in power tariff amounts to financially crippling the masses who are already facing hardships due to high inflation rate. Steps like separate power tariff for day time and night, two holidays in a week and advancing clocks by one hour cannot help overcome energy crisis," he added.
