Police on Thursday arrested 18 suspected foreign militants in a tribal area near the north-western city of Peshawar, an official said. They were moving out of the Darra Adam Khel area in two vehicles when they were arrested by police at a checkpost.
"We arrested these foreign nationals who are of Uzbek origin and look like militants from their appearance," local police official Lal Farid Khan told AFP. Khan said police did not find any weapons on the bearded men, who could only speak Persian.
