Living in a fantasy world

19 Oct, 2008

Pakistan came into being as a result of the conflict of ideologies developed by the majority population of undivided India for around 1000 years. India adopted secular system as a major in running their system of government Whereas, Pakistan adopted and declared itself as Islamic Republic.
From the very birth of Pakistan, its foreign policy has remained constantly to have the best of relations with all Islamic countries. Pakistan has always been a well-wisher of every Islamic country and has tried to play the part positively in the best possible way We have had the best of relation with many Islamic nations with the exception of some.
We have lent our total support to the Arab cause wherever required Palestinian cause is an example Whereas, certain Arab countries have recognised Israel in the best interest of the respective countries, Pakistan has abstained and opposed the recognition of Israel till such time as Palestinian state is recognised by Israel.
Amongst the Arab countries, one thing is very common. For an Arab cause they raise their voice in unison. But for Pakistan, who is acting like a champion for the cause of Islam, except lip sympathies, very seldom one sees solid support for our cause/s. Pakistan has always extended every kind of support to all the Islamic countries without any exception. This shows that is a one sided love affair.
We should act more prudently and look after our interest first and foremost and adopt a neutral policy without interfering in the affairs of any sovereign nation If we adopt a policy of non-interference, we shall be better off, attending to our own problems As a matter of fact, we stand a better chance in seeking guidance and help, not only from our neighbours but also from super powers and advanced economies.
We should have friends all over the world and should not discriminate any nation on account of their ideologies This is the wisest policy we should adopt and in result we will have no enemies but friends and well-wishers everywhere. We should not live in a world of fantasy. We must be more pragmatic to face our own problems to achieve the welfare of the people of Pakistan A prosperous nation will be looked upon with respect and dignity.
Let us build our nation by having friends everywhere. If we have certain unresolved problems with our neighbours, we should try to resolve them by creating an atmosphere of goodwill and building confidence We should let them feel that we want to live in peace with them and share each others prosperity for the betterment and well-being of people.
