ERB formed in AIMC to protect patients' interests

With a view to protecting the interests of patients and to monitor the working of medical staff, Ethical Review Board (ERB) has been constituted in Allama Iqbal Medical College (AIMC) which would meet every month. The first meeting of the ERB was held under the chairmanship of Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Professor Dr Javed Akram, here on Tuesday.
Professor Akram said that efforts are being made to make the Jinnah Hospital a model institution of international standard and establishment of ERB was also a part of this facilitation programme. He further said that a separate counter had also been established for counselling of the patients and their relatives.
He said that as directed by the Chief Minister Punjab, all the treatment facilities had been provided to the patients free of cost and no leniency would be tolerated in this regard. All the members of ERB expressed satisfaction over the efforts being made by the Principal Dr Javed Akram and MS Dr Zahid Pervaiz to make the hospital a model treatment center.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Dr Saeed Elahi MPA, Justice (Retd.) Mian Mahboob Ahmad, Fareed-ud-Din Ahmad, M S Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Professor Mukhtar Ahmad, Dr Nosheen Yousaf, Professor, Riaz-ud-din Sheikh Chairman Micro Biology Department Punjab University and Imam Jamia Masjid Allama Iqbal Medical College.
