Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic, Islamabad Muhammad Zubair Hashmi on Tuesday said that Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) educated 300,000 citizens under road safety education programme since its inception. Addressing a Road Safety Education workshop organised by ITP here, he said that education teams of ITP organised road safety workshops in colleges, schools, private and public organisations to deliver lectures to participants.
The SSP said the lives of other road users can be saved and made safer through avoiding over speeding during drive. He said that Road Safety Education programmes were started to control the traffic accidents and to acquaint the citizens with traffic rules and regulations.
Zubair Hashmi said the aim of holding such workshops is to acquaint the common citizens with traffic rules and regulations, advising them to show patience and to avoid over speeding while driving. He said the aim of issuing traffic violation tickets to the violators is not to punish them. It is a warning for them to avoid from the same practice in future and to create a sense of responsibility among the violators for bringing a traffic discipline in the city. Souvenir was presented to Manager Coca Cola factory by the SSP Traffic and certificates we distributed among the participants of the workshop.
