Rs five billion being spent on education sector in Punjab

Punjab government is spending Rs five billion during current fiscal year on setting up model schools and equipping the higher and secondary schools with latest computer laboratories. Official sources told Business Recorder on Tuesday that under the programme, modern computer laboratories would be established in 4,574 schools in the Punjab.
The step was being taken for providing maximum educational facilities to girls in the Punjab. Similarly, 560 girls middle schools would be upgraded to high schools at a cost of Rs two billion while 542 boys schools would also be upgraded at a cost of Rs 1.95 billion.
The concept of this programme was to restore the confidence of the people on government schools by improving educational environment in the schools functioning in the Punjab, sources added. The government was making strenuous efforts by bringing radical changes in education sector for ensuring modern and quality education facilities to the students in Punjab. Special attention has also been accorded on providing maximum facilities to the girls in Punjab, sources added.
