Investment in power projects: government facilitating private sector

Senior Minister, Raja Riaz Ahmad has said that the present government is facilitating the private sector to further invest in power generation projects in Punjab to overcome the energy crisis. He was presiding over a departmental meeting at his office, here on Tuesday, which was attended by department officials.
Raja Riaz observed that Irrigation and Power department is encouraging private sector to set up small hydel and hydro power plants in the province to get rid power deficiency.
Moreover, he said that 48 preferred sites have been already selected in Punjab, which have total capacity to produce 350MW electricity, while a total of 600MW electricity can be produced by setting up small hydel power plants at canal falls at 317 suitable places.
Likewise, Rs 69 million is also being spent on improvement of Nandi pur hydraulic research station. The government projects will help overcome energy crisis, he added.
