It was collective-will and political wisdom of parliamentarians, which paved the way for adoption of a unanimous resolution over the most sensitive issue confronting the country, he told PTV.
He said the political parties had divergent views on the issue in the beginning but gradually they moved towards consensus when the briefing moved forward. Abdul Ghafoor said the government took the parliament into confidence by holding in-camera briefing over its strategy about war against terrorism. While, parliamentarians have vowed to play their due role in eliminating extremism and terrorism from the society, he added.
He said under the unanimous resolution the parliament will devise an independent foreign policy based on the views and recommendations of parliamentarians. Besides, parliamentary groups of the two houses will set-up a committee to monitor the independent foreign policy.
