Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani has said that ongoing menace of terrorism and extremism would be eliminated with the support of people. Addressing a passing out parade of 118th PMA long course here on Saturday.
He said the passage of resolution in the Parliament is good omen as far as consensus among the people is concerned regarding law and order situation in the country, which would help eliminating terrorism from its roots.
He, while congratulating the new commissioned officers said the country is facing challenges of terrorism and extremism at internal and external level and you would have to utilise your capabilities according to the expectations of the nation, keeping in view the present situation.
"Pakistan is a peaceful country and always struggling for peace but we do not want arms race, however, would keep minimum deterrence for the effective defence and integrity of the country", he pointed out. He said the armed forces are equipped with sophisticated weapons of the modern age and capable enough to fulfil the aspirations of the nation.
"It is a great honour for me participating in this passing out parade and present congratulations to new commissioned officers on joining the services of Pakistan Army", he said and added "you are joining Army with great intentions and ought to fulfil the expectations of the nation by making the defence of the country impregnable".
COAS said the armed forces are playing effective role to steer the country out of the crises and also against the terrorism. He stressed upon the new commissioned officers to perform their duties with dedication becoming a professional soldier so to get rid of the crises facing the country. General Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani also distributed medals among the officers.
