Third death anniversary of Gee-Gee Zarina Baloch observed

In order to mark the third death anniversary of renowned vocalist, popularly known as Gee-Gee Zarina Baloch, the Provincial Culture Department organised different programmes in collaboration with University of Sindh and other cultural organisations here on Saturday.
The Sindh Minister for Culture Ms Sassi Paleejo attended these programmes as chief guest and paid rich tributes to Gee-Gee Zarina Baloch and her services. Ms Sassi Paleejo inaugurated Gee-Gee Zarina Baloch Corner at Sindhialogy Department Sindh University Jamshoro and Gee-Gee Zarina Blaoch Part at Model School, Old Campus, Sindh University at Hyderabad.
Talking with journalists at the occasions, Sindh Minister for Culture Ms Sassi Paleejo said that Gee-Gee Zarina Baloch was a multidimensional personality and had served the Sindh in the capacity of vocalist, writer and political worker simultaneously. She said that Gee-Gee Zarina Baloch was the first woman activist that brought out procession against the decision for hanging the founder of PPP and former Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
She said that Gee-Gee Zarina Baloch used her art as instrumental source not only to promote the culture of Sindh but protect the rights of Sindh as well. She said that the recording of the songs and her letters to her family members and other achievements were evidence enough, that she was multidimensional personality.
She said that her services could not be forgotten and would remain as the part of history and culture of Sindh. She said that the revolutionary changes have been brought in the culture department under which the culture and tourism of the Sindh was being promoted.
She said that her department has decided to celebrate the days of all the living and expired vocalists, artists, poets, writers of Sindh not only to project the Sindhi culture but also to give incentive to young vocalists/artists of Sindh. She said that Sindh had been culturally rich and vowed that it would be promoted in such a way so that the Sindh could bring its old cultural glories back. The Vice Chancellor of Sindh University Jamshoro Mr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, Secretary Culture Sindh Mr Shams Jafrani were also present on the occasion.
