Australia and France take karaoke world championships

Australia and France are reigning world championships in karaoke singing, as Australian Michael Bates won men's finale and French Juliet Gonnet ruled women's competition.
The sixth karaoke world championships finals were sung late Saturday in Lahti, some 100 kilometres (62 miles) north of Helsinki. The winners got a trophy and a cash prize, as well as a chance to record and publish a single. Briton Anthony Garcia came in second in men's competition, while Ireland's Elaine O'Halloran became second in women's finale.
