Students develop automated railway control, monitoring system

27 Oct, 2008

The students of Department of Electronic Engineering, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology, have developed an automated railway controlling and monitoring system. The project developed has many dimensions and offers a number of advantages to the users.
The system has been developed on the theory that trains move at very high speed with millions of tons of weight and in case of an emergency stop, the system application starts from a long distance.
Such a situation gives rise to possibilities for accidents including jumping of train from the track (derailment), head-on collision with another train coming from opposite direction. "Our projects offer so many dimensions to monitor and control such things", the project developing students claimed.
They pointed out that design perfection is an essential pre-requisite in any project designing and since a few decades, micro-controllers have become the major conqueror in the field of projects and keeping this in view, design implantation has to be monitored and controlled in a better way and having such a perfect monitoring system has been ensured in the project.
