A reception to welcome the new Administrator DHA was hosted by Horticultural Society of Pakistan (HSP) in Defence Phase-II on Tuesday evening. The Chairman HSP, Lieutenant General Jehanzeb Arbab (Retd) in his welcome address outlined the objectives and activities of his organisation. He said that HSP was deeply involved in creating aesthetically vibrant and greener environment in the metropolis.
Lieutenant General Arbab (R) reiterated that Defence Housing Authority and HSP were actively engaged since decades in a joint venture to promote greenery, parks and gardens in DHA. He said that HSP had been providing design, supervision and technical support for development of parks, medians, rockeries and fountains in DHA. He added that this had made DHA a city of parks and gardens in its essence.
He elaborated that HSP was also involved in organising gardening classes and promoting various other aesthetical activities in the city like the Annual Pakistan Flower Show. He said that such creative activities added enjoyment and delight to life.
Administrator DHA Brigadier Khalid Tirmizi appreciated the role that HSP had been playing in the promotion of horticultural skills and beautification of the environment in the metropolis for more than 50 years.
He said that DHA had a vested interest in ensuring provision of aesthetically vibrant, clean and beautiful environment to its residents and as such, would whole-heartedly support any initiative in this regard. He said that aesthetics and beauty is the essence of life and leaves indelible healthy imprints on human mind. He added that parks, gardens and greenery symbolise an expression of perfect relaxation, enjoyment and entertainment in life.
Brigadier Tirmizi paid tributes to Mr A. K. Khan, President HSP who had devoted his life to the cause of promotion of horticulture in the city. He said that Khan had been instrumental in inspiring immense public interest in horticulture and environment and hence deserves commendation. A large number of DHA residents, eminent personalities and DHA officials attended the function.-PR
