Election tribunal adjourns hearing

An election tribunal headed by a judge of the Lahore High Court adjourned hearing in an election petition of former federal minister Humayun Akhter seeking disqualification of PML-N MNA Rohail Asghar who won election from NA-124 Lahore.
Petitioner's counsel Alia Ijaz sought time to seek instructions from her client as he was not in the country. Accepting the request the court adjourned hearing till November 07. Humayun alleged that Rohail Asghar manipulated and rigged the election process by extending threats to the life of polling staff and his polling agents.
He said respondent's armed men resorted to indiscriminate firing on the polling day that created terror and sense of insecurity among the voters. Resultantly lot of his voters did not cast vote. He requested the court to disqualify Rohail Asghar and direct election commissioner to hold fresh polls in the constituency.
