Traders selling ghee at higher rates

03 Nov, 2008

Traders in Multan and other parts of southern Punjab continue to sell ghee at higher rates even after government announcement to reduce ghee prices up to Rs 48 per kg.
The traders while refusing to sell ghee of different brands at reduced prices made it clear they would sell ghee at previous rates. They opined that they are also getting ghee at previous prices. Verbal clash between consumers and shopkeepers was also witnessed in some markets. DCO Multan Fazil Asghar, when contacted, said that special teams were being constituted to take action against the hoarders, profiteers and adulterators. He said that district administration would ensure the application of fresh rates of vegetable ghee and cooking oil.
