Chairman Task force on Essential Items S.A. Hameed has instructed the district co-ordination officers (DCOs) to ensure the sale of ghee at Rs 98 per kg. Presiding over a meeting in connection with the sale of ghee at new prices, he said that DCOs have also been instructed to take action against the shopkeepers involved in overcharging of ghee.
He further said that mill owners should also ensure the supply of ghee to retailers at new prices. Hameed said that according to the agreement with the government, ghee mill owners are bound to provide ghee at Rs 98 per kg, however, there are complaints about the overcharging of ghee. He further said that it is the moral duty of ghee mill owners to reduce the prices of ghee after the decrease of palm oil prices in international market to provide relief to consumers.
