The Government of Pakistan, in collaboration with UN refugee agency, is launching an initiative for updating record of Afghan refugees residing in Pakistan, including registering, updating, correcting or modifying existing Proof of Registration (PoR) cards in selected areas of Pakistan, from November 10.
Afghan refugees are reminded that this will not be a fresh or new registration. It is for registered Afghans who already received their PoR cards during the registration exercise of October 2006 to February 2007, says a press release issued here on Monday.
The aim of the PoR Card Modification (PCM) Centres is to update, correct or modify the details recorded on the PoR cards issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra).
Each update will cost Rs 55, the amount is only payable to a designated bank near the centres. Possible updates or modifications include mistakes in the spelling of names, dates of birth, new marriages and new-born babies. Damaged, stolen and lost cards can be replaced. All modifications in the PoR card can take place only if a valid reference document is provided like a birth certificate, Basic Health Unit (BHU) card/vaccination card, school certificate, driving license, passport, refugee camp card or marriage certificate.
Registered Afghans have to approach the centres for possible modifications, updates or replacements. No one outside the PoR Card Modification Centres or among the Afghan community is authorised to collect lists or other information relating to this process.
Registered Afghans can have more information about the process through information flyers distributed in their communities and available at the PCM centres or can call direct on the hotline numbers as mentioned below.
