US to provide technical support to agriculture sector: Hunt

There is rich potential for growth in the agriculture sector in Pakistan and United States will provide technical assistance to help the country meet its growing need for food grain, said Principal Officer US Consulate, Lahore Brian D Hunt here.
Addressing a reception given for him by Rahim Yar Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industry last evening, he said US was already playing an active role in the economic development of Pakistan. He said there were plans to give technical support to small industrialists as well as to help achieve higher produce in the agriculture sector.
Responding to a demand of the businessmen from RYK, Hunt said they would be facilitated in getting visas for US and the process would be expedited. RYK Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Chaudhry Mahmood Ahmed and Vice President Abdur Rauf also addressed the gathering.
Later, during his visit to the district, US Consulate Lahore's Principal Officer also went to the plant of an international beverage company here in RYK and showed deep interest in its working, especially the quality maintenance. Hunt was briefed about the operation by GM of the factory, Mahmood Baig and he was presented Ajrak Chadder and a Sindhi cap on the occasion.
