04 Nov, 2008

Taking exception to the exchange of harsh words between the Advocate General Punjab (AGP), Khawaja Harris and District Police Officer (DPO) Gujrat, Tahir Alam, Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif has directed the Inspector General, Punjab Police to submit an immediate report.
The exchange of harsh words had led latter's forced eviction of DPO from AGP office when he had to wait to meet AGP with regard to a case pending in the Lahore High Court, the source said. The DPO requested AGP to go with him to attend a case in which, the court had sought the appearance of both the officials.
The staff of the AGP asked the DPO to wait as a meeting was underway in the office. The DPO therefore waited for an unusually long time and took it to heart. As soon he was permitted to see the AGP in his office, he angrily addressed the AGP said, 'You are being paid a handsome salary but doing nothing I return.'
His remark irked the AGP and he replied, 'Who are you to talk to me in this manner, who are you to direct me? Get out of my room.' As the DPO was adamant to leave his office, the AGP called his guard and other staff who forcibly pushed the DPO out of the room and the DPO left the AGP's office with full resentment. As the Inspector General of Police came to know about the unpleasant incident, he reached the AGP office and took the details. Later, Punjab CM ordered the IGP to investigate into the matter and submit an urgent report.
