Barge freight rose again on Tuesday, with barges trading at record highs on the Illinois River and in St. Louis. Heavy deliveries of newly harvested grain to elevators have caused barge freight to rise in the past two weeks. Good demand from China has supported soybean values this week, traders said.
Iraq purchased about 200,000 tonnes of wheat from east Europe and Australia in a tender. Prices and shipment dates were unknown. South Korea bought 55,000 tonnes of US corn for $208.90 a tonne from Feednet, traders said. Cuba signed a deal to buy 150,000 tonnes of Canadian wheat in 2009.
