The Lahore High Court on Friday has imposed fine on Station House Officer (SHO), Khanqan Dopgran and a Sub-Inspector for illegally detaining a father and son. Earlier, a court bailiff submitted in his report that the detainees, Muhammad Nazir and his 12-year old son, Amir were arrested on November 01 from their house and their arrest was not mentioned in daily register.
He also confirmed police torture on the detainees. Amir told that SI Jahangir had arrested him from his house and took away a woman of his family. When his father Nazir went to the police station, police detained him as well and released the woman. On Friday, one ASI Sajjad Abbas appeared before the court and said that SI Jahangir had arrested them and kept at police station. The court summoned the SI on a short notice, who appeared but denied the charges against him.
However, the court relying upon the bailiff's report imposed a fine of Rs 100, 000 on the SI and Rs 50, 000 on the Station House Officer (SHO) Muhammad Iqbal. The court also directed the concerned session judge to recover the fine money from the delinquent police officials and provide the amount to the detainees. In addition, the court ordered to annex the court order in the Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) of both cops. The court ordered Nazir's release and granted bail to Amir.
