The Joint Study Group (JSG) of Pakistan and Japan will hold second round of talks here from Monday to examine and finalise various recommendations including Free Trade Agreement (FTA), Special Economic Zone and other areas of co-operation between the two countries, said a senior official at Pakistan Embassy here on Friday.
The JSG included prominent businessmen drawn from Chamber of Commerce of both the countries with the task assigned to examine and submit recommendations on rapid industrialisation, enhance trade and investment, promotion of education, expanding and building infrastructure in Pakistan, Economic Minister at Pakistan Mission Iftikhar Babar told APP.
Trade related matters including Free Trade Agreement between Pakistan and Japan and establishment of Special Economic Zone for Japanese Investors in Karachi will also figure in the two-day meeting, he said. The Special Economic Zone, Iftikhar Babar said will help bring large scale Japanese investment in Pakistan.
He said that the last meeting of JSG was held in July in Pakistan while the second meeting is scheduled here from November 10-11 at the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry to examine and finalise various recommendations. The 10-member JSG has been established by the Governments of Pakistan and Japan last year.
