PPP leaders call on Altaf in London

Pakistan Peoples Party, (PPP) associated Sindh ministers, Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq and Dr Zulfiqar Mirza called on Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain at MQM International Secretariat, London.
According to MQM statement received here on Sunday, Deputy Convenor MQM Rabita Committee, Dr Farooq Sattar, Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Nazim Karachi, Syed Mustafa Kamal and others were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, MQM chief paid rich tributes to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and the meeting also offered fateha for her. PPP leaders offered condolence to Altaf Hussain on the death of his maternal cousin, Saeed Warsi.
In the five-hour meeting, they discussed prevailing political situation in Sindh, and Karachi in particular, law and order as well as overall political and economic circumstances in the country.
During the meeting, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders called for effective measures to further improve the law and order in Sindh province.
Altaf Hussain said Sindh is a land of sufis, which has no room for extremism.
The meeting agreed that all parties representing Sindh should play their role for peace and stability in the Province.
They also agreed that all democratic forces put their political and ideological differences aside, should exhibit unity and solidarity for promotion of democracy, pull the country out of the economic crisis and other challenges.
They also agreed that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and MQM will show unity and will continue their efforts at all levels for the promotion and strengthening of democracy.
They said both the parties will jointly endeavour for peace and stability in Sindh, prosperity of the Province and resolution of the problems confronting the people.
The working relationship will also be further improved by both the sides at levels of ministers, members of the Assemblies, nazims, naib nazims and councillors, they emphasised. Members MQM Rabita Committee, Muhammad Anwer, Tariq Jawaid, Saleem Shahzad, Anees Qaimkhani and others were also present.
