The staff of Khanani and Kalia International (Pvt) Ltd here has disappeared from the scene, fearing raids for arrest of some of them following FIA clampdown on a number of forex firms in Lahore and Karachi.
Local staff members have switched off their cell phones since Saturday night. Their family members deny any knowledge of their whereabouts. Some circles fear that money changers' offices would remain closed on Monday in Islamabad market.
As it will be the first working day in after FIA action, it would have to be seen how other forex firms react to the events.
Some officials were of the view that most of dollar smuggling was done through Afghanistan where some Pakistani firms were involved in dollar selling at higher prices against Pakistani currency.
