Shamshad among top ten women leaders in Asia: WSJ

Dr Shamshad Akhtar, country's first female Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, has been named amongst the top ten women leaders in Asia by the coveted Wall Street Journal (WSJ) Asia. WSJ Asia has compiled a list of Asia-based women, focusing on those who are having an impact on business now or who will be influential in the years ahead.
"Shamshad Akhtar is better positioned than most to tackle the country's mammoth economic challenges," the Wall Street Journal Asia wrote while announcing its decision on Monday. "She doesn't lack for backbone, either. Ms Akhtar is known for speaking her mind," the WSJ Asia said. Dr Shamshad Akhtar is a former economist with the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, so she doesn't lack for experience, the renowned newspaper added.-PR
