Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) and Karachi University (KU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tropical Medicine Research Institute (TMRI), National Centre for Research Ministry of Science and Technology, Khartoum, Sudan, for collaboration and training on infectious and non-infectious diseases.
The sources at International Centre for Chemical and Biological Research, University of Karachi, said on Tuesday. Director JCCBS Professor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary on behalf of the PCMD, which is also a part of the ICCUS and Director TMRI Dr Intisar E. Elrayah signed the memorandum during the concluding ceremony of 11th ISNPC, held at KU.
The primary objective of the MoU is to strengthen collaboration in research and training with a view to reduce the risk of infections, mortality and morbidity in man and livestock in the affected areas particularly in the developing countries like Pakistan and Sudan.
The sources said that both institutions will benefit from the facilities available within them. TMRI will benefit from training of his staff in the advance techniques that are currently available at PCMD with an aim of initiating joint research projects in the current area of interest.
The collaboration will base on exchange of personnel, scientific and technical information, exchange of equipment and software through projects, joint research studies conference and workshops and joint submission and execution for science and innovation proposals.
