Police smashed 648 criminal gangs and arrested their 2,149 member while looted property worth Rs 871.2 million was also recovered during the first 10 months of the current year. As many as 16,051 court absconders and proclaimed offenders were also nabbed during this period.
As per details, a vigorous campaign has been launched against criminal gangs, proclaimed offenders and court absconders on the direction of Capital City Police Officer, Muhammad Pervez Rathore and during the said campaign, the police arrested 2,149 members of 648 gangs who confessed to their involvement in 5,325 cases, including 15 cases of robbery cum murder, 30 of murder, 120 of robbery, 1,869 of robbery and 2719 other cases. Looted and stolen property recovered during this period include Rs 10 million in cash, six kg gold ornaments, 172 cars, 311 motorcycles, 1295 cell phones, 10 pickups, 5 tractor and other precious items.
The police also arrested 8,827 proclaimed offenders out of which 473 were involved in murder cases, 351 in attempted murder, 157 in dacoity, 456 in robbery, 701 in burglary and 6689 in other miscellaneous cases during this period.
