Dr Fehmida Mirza, Speaker National Assembly has said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina as both the countries are tied in bonds of religion, mutual respect and similarity of views on various regional and international issues.
She said this while talking to Dzanko Damir, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina who called on her at Parliament Houseon Tuesday. NA Speaker said that there was immense potential of collaboration between both the countries in diverse fields. She called for encouraging entrepreneurs on both sides to invest in either country. She underlined the need for enhanced exchange of parliamentary delegations between the two countries for strengthening the existing relations.
She informed the Ambassador that Pakistan was committed to peace and stability in the region and elimination of extremism and terrorism. She said that the bane of extremism and terrorism could only be eliminated by enhancing literacy, reducing poverty by job creation and employment opportunities.
She said that adoption of unanimous resolution by all political parties on the issues of national security and curbing extremism, a great achievement of the Parliament, which will go a long way in resolving the issue of terrorism and extremism. The NA Speaker thanked the Ambassador for support of his government during the earthquake in year 2005 and other natural calamities.
Dzanko Damir congratulated the Speaker on passage of consensus resolution and said that the government of Bosnia also accords great importance to its existing relations with Pakistan and would like to further consolidate them. The Ambassador agreed for enhancing people to people contact. He said that there was great opportunity for Pakistani business community to start their businesses in Bosnia. The Ambassador also extended invitation to NA Speaker on behalf of the Speaker of Bosnian Parliament to visit Bosnia.-PR
