LDA spending Rs 84.8 million on construction of new road

The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) will construct a 3.4-kilometre long new road from G.T. Road to Band Road in Bogewal area at a cost of Rs 84.8 million, under the "Lahore Roads Rehabilitation Programme." LDA Director General Shahid Mahmood disclosed this while inspecting the ongoing project for laying a 72-inch diameter sewer pipe in the area here on Thursday.
The LDA Director General directed the officials to expedite work on this sewerage project, being undertaken by the Wasa at a cost of Rs 114 million, so that the road project could be opened as early as possible for bringing this under-developed area at par with other localities of the city.
He also issued directive for taking special care for the underground water supply, Sui gas and telephone lines during the execution of this project, besides diverting the flow of bricks drain that had been laid in the area about 60 years ago.
The LDA Director General also visited Gujarpura housing scheme and inspected the conditions of roads and sewerage in the area. He directed the officials concerned to finish lying of sewerage in the area before embarking on construction of new roads in the area. He asked them to construct drains along all roads, to be constructed by the LDA with a view to ensuring quick disposal of storm water.
