ISLAMABAD: Chairman Board of Governors (BoGs), Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) Barrister Amjad Malik visited the Embassy of Pakistan in Kuwait where he briefed the participants about various initiatives taken by the OPF for the welfare of overseas Pakistanis.

He said for facilitating overseas Pakistanis, the OPF has established counters at all the international airports in Pakistan that work 24/7, a message received here on Wednesday said.

On arrival at the Chancery, he inspected the Consular Section and received briefing from the Head of Chancery and Community Welfare Attach? regarding the provision of Consular and Welfare Services to Pakistani diaspora in Kuwait. Later he had a meeting with the Ambassador HE Ghulam Dastgir.

The ambassador briefed the chairman on the issues faced by the Pakistani community in Kuwait and the role being played by the embassy in facilitating Pakistanis living in Kuwait.       The chairman appreciated the efforts of the ambassador and his team at the embassy and elaborated that the OPF is actively pursuing its goal to coordinate with the missions abroad in every possible way by taking practical steps in mitigating the problems faced by overseas Pakistanis.

Later, he addressed a gathering of Pakistani community and Media in which he highlighted the efforts being put in by the OPF for alleviating the problems being faced by overseas Pakistanis both at home and abroad.       He explained the active role of 137 overseas Pakistanis as Overseas Pakistanis Advisory Council (OPAC) members recently appointed with the help of Pakistan missions coming from different walks of life and different regions of the world.      These members will represent their community and inform the government of Pakistan of their grievances.

Barrister Malik also had a detailed interview by Kuwait TV in which he highlighted the contribution of the Pakistani diaspora working in different sectors of Kuwait and stressed upon the community to respect local laws and make positive contribution in the host society.
