US MIDDAY: coffee gains, cocoa lower

Arabica coffee perked up in early trade on Friday but remained rangebound, while US cocoa turned lower on pressure from weak pound against the dollar, traders said. Arabica coffee for March delivery up 0.90 cent at $1.1585 per lb by 9:05 am EST (1405 GMT). Session range from $1.1515 to $1.1710.
The rest from 0.90 cent to 1.45 cent higher. March volume at 2,950 lots. Benchmark March cocoa fell $8 to $1,940 per tonne by 9:07 am EST. Trading range from $1,934 to $1,969. March volume at 1,434 lots. Spot December futures were up $11 at $1,938.
