The offices of secretary wildlife and director of industries are in better conditions having almost all facilities such as new furniture, air-conditioned, carpet etc. However, the wildlife department is facing shortage of staff according, according to a survey conducted by the Business Recorder on Friday.
An official of the forest department said there were only three section officers (SOs) in his department, who were adjusted with the other low-ranking staff in a same room with an artificial partition made through shelves and tables. The cracks in the roofs of the building are visible, which may cause any eventuality anytime.
According to the rule, he said, each SO would have separate staff with all basic facilities, but they were yet to get such facilities. The department has a generator which is out of order for months, compelling officials to work without electricity in case of power outages.
He said the government apathy could be gauged from the fact that precious records of the department were lying in a random manner in corridors, above shelves with dust and insects moving around them. He said the doors and windows of all offices were broken that needed immediate replacement as the winter had started.
He said they had one peon due to which they could not entertain the visiting officials and guest. Recently, all the offices of provincial finance department have gone through a proper renovation and they were provided with all facilities. The officials at the directorate of industries also narrated the same story.
