17 Nov, 2008

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Senator Dr Babar Awan said on Sunday that reduction in petroleum prices would directly facilitate the masses and boost the confidence of the people on government.
'The reduction in petroleum price has also countered the propaganda being hatched against the government on this particular issue,' Awan said while talking to different delegations from various regions. He said the government was also considering reducing the prices of essential edible commodities to facilitate the lower income strata of society.
The minister suggested eliminating `VIP Culture' to bringing about equity in the country. 'My ministry is the ministry of people where anybody could easily come and go with no formalities of protocol or sort of 'VIP Culture',' he maintained. Dr Awan put the Parliament at the highest place among other institutions, saying Parliament was supreme and its decisions were of great importance. 'Parliament's decisions are the decisions of the government,' he said. The delegations expressed full confidence in the government and expressed all out support to its endeavours for achieving progress and prosperity.
