Vans with more than 15 passengers to be fined: ITA

Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) has directed the van drivers to board only 15 passengers in their vans otherwise fine would be issued to them over violating this direction.
Secretary ITA Bashir Ahmed and Motor Vehicle Examiner (MVE), Shaukat Abbassi in a statement here directed the drivers and owners of the vehicles to ensure proper documentation of their vehicles, avoid to board more than 15 passengers and received fare as determined by the government.
As per details, they fined more than 110 vehicles during the checking of vehicles in last week and imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 to them besides impounding 30 vehicles in various police stations.
Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Amer Ahmed Ali, these officials conducted special checking and fined over 110 vehicles for over-charging, over-loading and running vehicles without documents and also in dilapidated condition.
They said that further checking of vehicles would continue on the roads of Islamabad and only fit vehicles would be allowed to ply on city roads.
