Federal Population Welfare Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said the government has taken radical steps for averting price hike to facilitate tthe common man in the country
Addressing a public meeting on Sunday night in adjoining village Kuba Check, she alleged that price hike was intentionally created just to weaken and destabilising the government and in future such conspiracies would not be tolerated and plotters would be dealt with an iron hand.
The Federal Minister disclosed that three-Marla housing scheme would also be introduced in Sialkot district aimed at accommodating the low-income group of the area. Dr Firdous Awan revealed that Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani had sanctioned a special package amounting Rs 350 million for the construction of a road network, educational institutions, electricity, Sui gas and health projects in NA-111.
The Federal Minister said the government was mobilising all resources and modes for extending maximum relief to the masses on top priority basis, adding that recent reduction in electricity tariff would give relief to the poor stigma of the society.
She said the PPPP believed in democratic norms and had always avoided the politics of confrontation just for strengthening and to promote democracy at grassroots level in the country. The Minister alleged that bureaucracy was threatening to the people party workers and elected representatives for dire consequences and the government was fully watching the attitude of the bureaucracy of Sialkot.
The political victimisation would not be tolerated and PPPP workers were able to cope with the situation, which had been created intentionally to harassing the workers, she said. Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was a symbol of democracy and PPPP would continue its struggle for converting the country into a true and real democratic state of the glob, she added.
She said the government was working on the lines and political vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for bringing radical changes in every sphere of life and to ensure social justice to the masses of the country. Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan further stated that government had formulated a strategy for banishing the backwardness from the politically ignored and far-off areas of the country. In this regard special attention was being accorded on the provision amenities in those areas aimed at bringing them on equal footings with the developed parts of the country, she added.
On this occasion, Dr Firdous Awan stressed upon the party workers that they should forge complete unity among the ranks and collective efforts should be made for strengthening the party (PPPP) in Sialkot district. PPPP Member federal council Yousaf Khilji, Chaudary Azhar Hassan, and MPA Tahir Mehmood Hundali also spoke on occasion.
